Research Analyst
BEC is dedicated to providing professional development opportunities to our employees at all levels. Our research analysts develop skills in spatial analysis, economic theory, client relations, data analysis, and programming. Many research analysts go on to pursue a higher degree after working at BEC and are encouraged to take advantage of senior level staff insight throughout their application process.
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree. All majors are welcome to apply.
Additional Preferred Skills:
Preferred course background in mathematics, statistics, computer science, and / or economics. Familiarization with ArcGIS. Knowledge of programming in STATA, Microsoft Excel or other platforms (e.g. Java, C++, Perl, Python). Previous internship or research experience.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
Research analysts are expected to take on a high level of responsibility starting on the first day. Analysts receive formal training in the technical and programming skills necessary for the position and informal training from fellow analysts and senior consulting staff on a daily basis.
Day-to-day activities include conducting research, synthesizing findings, and producing a final product. Research analysts attend meetings with clients and also have an opportunity to work on marketing and recruiting new analysts.
Our work environment is casual, with regular contact between research analysts and senior consultants. Research analysts are expected to work effectively with a team and independently. This position is ideal for someone who is interested in pursuing a career in economics and is looking for exposure to a range of topics in natural resources, energy, finance, labor and the environment. |
